Rules Of Auction

Auctions are held on a daily basis except where otherwise defined such as:

Ford SA – displays their vehicles from the Friday before the auction to the following Wednesday at 15:00 when the auction shall close

Autoworld SA – displays their vehicles on each Thursday only until 15:00 when the auction will close

Although this website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year the vehicles that you can view will be predetermined by the Sellers needs/requirements and stock available.

Auctions will never close over a weekend or on a public holiday.

Although all the various stages that the auctions encompass close at 15:00 each day there may be a case that this time is extended, for example if a vehicle is bid on within the last ten minutes of the auction, the site will extend bidding time by 15 minutes, this could continue to happen to a maximum closing time of 18:00.

Types Of Purchase

There are three different ways that a registered Buyer may purchase a vehicle from a Registered Seller:

Placing A Bid

a)This vehicle is currently in stock and visible on the Seller’s floor should you wish to view the vehicle before bidding

b)There are predetermined increments, determined by the Seller, but visible to you upon bidding

c)In order for a bid to be valid, the bid you place has to be higher than the Reserve Price, higher than the highest bid last placed and in the increment amount determined by the seller

d)The highest bidder will be awarded the vehicle and will be notified of such vehicle being awarded to them in the matter of their choice, email and/or sms, and will also be visible to the purchaser under their ‘My Units Bought’ tab

Placing An Offer

a)This vehicle is currently in stock and visible on the Seller’s floor should you wish to view the vehicle before bidding

b)There are predetermined increments, determined by the Seller, but visible to you upon bidding

c)In order for an Offer to be valid, the offer you place has to be higher than the last Offer placed and in the increment amount determined by the seller

d)The dealership that placed the Highest Offer will not necessarily be awarded the vehicle because it could still be too little for the Seller to accept. However if the Offer placed exceeds the Reserve price on the vehicle the Offer will change into a bid and the highest Bidder will be awarded the vehicle.

e)You will be notified of such vehicle being awarded to you in the matter of your choice, email and/or sms, and you will also be able to see this information under the ‘My Units Bought’ tab

Placing A Cover

a)This vehicle is not always in stock as it is usually a trade in that the Selling Dealership is trying to get a price on to offer to their client before they can conclude the sale of a new vehicle, and therefore you will not always be able to view the vehicle beforehand

b)There are predetermined increments, determined by the Seller, but visible to you upon bidding

c)In order for a Cover to be valid, the Cover you place has to be higher than the last Cover placed and in the increment amount determined by the seller

d)The dealership that placed the Highest Cover will not necessarily be awarded the vehicle because it could still be too little for the Seller to accept, or the new vehicle sale does not go through, for example

e)You will be notified if such vehicle is awarded to you in the matter of your choice, email and/or sms, and you will also be able to see this information under the ‘My Units Bought’ tab

Please refresh your session often so that you will always see the latest available information to you.

Contact Details

The contact details of a Seller, including the region that they are in is always available to you when you click on the ‘View Details’ hyperlink next to each vehicle.

Vehicles Being Deleted

The deletion of a vehicle is possible before the close of auction. This is entirely at the Seller’s discretion.

After Awarding A Vehicle

After a vehicle has been awarded to you, it is your responsibility to contact the Seller and make arrangements with them in terms of payment and collection/delivery, within 48 hours of the vehicle being awarded to you.

It is also your responsibility to ensure that you check that the vehicle is described correctly before taking it off the dealership floor.

If it is not described correctly, and you cannot sort out the discrepancy between you and the seller, we advise you not to take delivery of the vehicle as once it leaves the Selling Dealer’s floor the Seller does not have to take the vehicle back for the simple reason of something could have happened in transit, or thereafter, and was therefore not within the Selling dealer’s control.

If you decide not to take delivery of the vehicle, please come back to the office and make an incident report against the selling dealer, with as much description as possible, so that we know the reason why you did not take delivery of the vehicle that was Awarded to you.

TransUnion is not here to help you sort out your dispute as we do not own any of the dealerships concerned and can therefore not force them to make good. We do however monitor the incident reports logged and should it be occurring too frequently with a particular dealer (Buyer or Seller) we take remedial action against such dealer.
